Queer Family Tree: Vickie
Queer Family Tree is a mini-documentary series from Here TV that sits down with members of the LGBTQ community and lets them tell, in their own words, how they came to accept and love themselves. This installment introduces Vickie. Directed by Tay Barrett, the episode follows the series' simple, intimate format: one person, one story, told without narration or dramatization, tracing the path from early uncertainty to a sense of belonging. The title's metaphor is deliberate. Queer people often build their families out of friends, mentors, and communities rather than inheriting them, and each episode maps one branch of that larger tree. Short, warm, and direct, the film is a reminder that self-acceptance is rarely a single moment and almost always a journey shared with others.
