Queer Family Tree: Molly
Queer Family Tree is a Here TV mini-documentary series from filmmaker Tay Barrett that sits down with members of the queer community, one person at a time, to trace the roads they traveled toward self-acceptance and self-love. In this installment, Barrett's subject is Molly, who talks about how she came to understand her identity, the people and moments that shaped her, and what she would say to her younger self if she could. Barrett, a Los Angeles-based filmmaker with a background in sociology and creative nonfiction, favors simple, direct conversation over narration, letting each participant's story unfold in their own words. Short, warm, and unhurried, the episode is one branch of a larger tree, a portrait series built on the idea that every queer person's history deserves to be recorded.
