Turning Teddy

Teddy Windslow is a former athlete who has lost his way, overworked and adrift, when he lands a job as the assistant to Sebastian Black, a Hollywood action star with a life as demanding as his image. Teddy has always been into women, which makes the feelings that begin to surface for his boss as confusing to him as they are impossible to ignore. Around him, two fellow assistants, Amad and Kareem, are running the lives of their own famous employers and wrestling with complications of their own. Director Waymon Boone's four-episode Here TV drama, from 2023, stars Jamel King as Teddy, Dwayne Tarver as Sebastian, Stephen Simon as Amad and Camryn Lee as Kareem, and it uses the assistant's-eye view of celebrity to explore ambition, power and desire in the entertainment industry. Sleek and soapy, Turning Teddy is a story about the people who hold the stars' lives together while quietly reassembling their own.
