Time Cigarette

Behind an Italian restaurant, out by the back door, customers slip away from their tables for a smoke, and in the few minutes it takes a cigarette to burn down, whole lives flicker into view. Federica Barcellona's fifteen-minute short is built from these brief encounters: strangers and near-strangers who trade confessions, flirtations, and small cruelties with a lightness that barely conceals what is at stake. Big subjects, love, identity, disappointment, surface for a moment and are gone with the smoke, because nobody has time for more than the surface, and that is the point. Valeria Angelozzi, Silvia Biancalana, and Emanuela Rolla lead the ensemble in a comedy-drama that treats the smoking break as a tiny stage where people are briefly, accidentally honest.
