Three Distinct Impressions

Parker (Bijan Karim) needs a place to sleep, and the easiest option is the one he should probably avoid: his ex-girlfriend Sydney (Jacqueline Welbers). The trouble is that Parker's memory skips over anything inconvenient, so his version of how things ended and Sydney's do not match, and when her new partner Rachita (Kellen Jackson), a bass player, enters the picture at a house party, three very different accounts of the same history collide. Writer-director-star Karim's Canadian comedy-drama plays with perspective and selective recall, using saturated color and a lively party setting to explore how people edit their own pasts and how badly those edits hold up under scrutiny. Wry and character-driven, Three Distinct Impressions is a small story about the gap between what happened and what we tell ourselves happened.
