Things Left Unsaid
Lucía and Marta are a couple, and each of them is facing a turning point she has not shared with the other. Rather than risk the conversation, they retreat into silence, going through the motions of a shared life while the things they most need to say pile up between them. Over the course of this eleven-minute Spanish-language short, known in Spanish as Palabras pendientes, both women are forced to face their private conflicts and then to decide whether the future they once imagined together still holds. Director Juan Carlos Guerra keeps the drama close and unshowy, trusting Leticia Torres and María José Castañeda to carry the weight of everything unspoken. Gregor Acuña, Óscar Corrales, and Antonio Dechent appear in support. It is a small, precise film about the courage that intimacy demands.
