The Male Gaze: A Better Tomorrow

Five short films, five countries, one shared hope: that tomorrow might be easier than today. Curated by NQV Media as part of its Male Gaze series, this ninety-five-minute anthology travels from Mexico to Spain, on to Austria, and then to China by way of Greece, following gay men as they push through the obstacles between them and self-acceptance. The program includes Jonathan Anzo's Xutaj from Mexico, Aitor Gametxo's If They Knew from Spain, Stefan Langthaler's Boom and Bloom from Austria, Dimitrios Asproloupos's Sexual Distancing from Greece, and Dongni Lanca Li's And We Collide from China, with a cast that includes Koldo Olabarri, Nils Hohenhövel, Iñigo Aranburu, and Thodoris Vrachas. Different in language and tone, the films share a tenderness toward men figuring out who they are and where they are going.
