The Last Take

He was once one of the brightest stars of Hollywood's golden age, and the studio system made sure the public never learned who he really loved. Now, facing the end of his life, the aging actor (Robert John Burke) has one last chance to confront the lies that were forced on him and to reconcile with the only man he ever truly loved, a fellow star from whom he was separated by the demands of a career and an era. Writer-director Brian Foyster, who also appears in the film alongside Liam Burke and Josh Trant, crafts an elegiac chamber piece about regret, closeted fame and the cost of a life performed for other people's comfort. The Last Take screened at the Lovers Film Festival in Turin and the Arpa International Film Festival, and received a Best Shorts Outstanding Achievement award in the LGBTQ+ category in 2024.
