The Carer

Ari is a cultivated, worldly gay man who has reluctantly moved into a care home as age catches up with him. There he is assigned to Beau, a handsome young carer with a criminal past who cannot read. The two could not be more different, and their early encounters bristle with mutual suspicion, but the daily routine of care draws them into a friendship neither anticipated, one that changes the direction of both their lives. Directed by Christine Parker and starring Peter Eyre as Ari alongside Barney Glover and Stephan Chase, this British short is a warm, wry drama about dignity in old age and the unexpected places where connection takes root.
