Taste of Love

Love might taste sweet, sour, bitter or even salty. Paul Scheufler's five-minute Austrian short takes that idea literally, following a young woman on a sensual, aromatic journey in which each encounter with love registers on the tongue. Mirjam Hameter leads the cast, with Georg Rauber and Berenice Heichel as the flavors she samples along the way, and the film builds toward a heightened, almost synesthetic climax as she explores the different forms love can take with every sense at once. Playful and impressionistic rather than narrative-driven, Taste of Love is a miniature about appetite and openness, about a woman refusing to settle for a single flavor when the whole menu is available to her. It screens as part of the anthology Queer Quickies 107.
