Stagger

In the middle of a heated argument with her younger lover, who has announced a sudden departure, Olive finds herself pulled backward into memory. As the fight escalates in the present, she revisits the moments that first drew the two women together, and the contrast between what they were and what they have become gives the quarrel its ache. Directed by Céline Ribard and starring Elen Rhys and Haruka Abe, this British short packs an entire relationship into a handful of minutes, moving fluidly between past and present to show how love and conflict can live in the same room. The film screened widely on the festival circuit, including the short competition at London Film Week, the Florence Queer Film Festival, Women X Festival, and the San Diego International Shortsfest.
