Fran and Steph have not spoken in a long time. Fran is devout, and Steph is the sister Fran once knew as a brother; their family fractured when Steph transitioned, and neither has found a way back. Dimitris Toulias's British short gives them a single night together and a single rule: honesty, all of it, no matter what it costs. Over the hours that follow, old wounds, faith, resentment, and the stubborn pull of sisterhood come to the surface as the two women try to work out whether the family they had can be rebuilt as the family they are. Rebecca Root, the transgender actress known for the BBC's Boy Meets Girl, plays Steph opposite Maddy Myles as Fran. Screened at Reel Affirmations, Washington, DC's LGBTQ+ film festival, Sis was praised there for its performances and its power to move anyone whose family has struggled to accept them.
