She's the Protagonist

The Protagonist, by her given name, is presented to us in her natural environment: a jungle, sadly, often lacking in density. But today enough is enough. Being the side piece of the main male character is no longer enough for our dear Protagonist. Put on mute once the time allotted to female characters in a film has run out, she breaks free of the frame and runs away with her friend Voice-Over on a new journey of her own making, one filled with plenty of humor, a healthy disregard for the rules of cinema, and a pointed question about who gets to be the center of the story. Sarah Carlot Jaber's playful, inventive short is a comedy about representation that never stops being fun. Salomé Richard, Bwanga Pilipili, and Ji-Su Jeong star.
