Miranda Bliss is a devout, conservative Southern woman who takes her faith literally, so when she receives what she believes is a direct message from God, she obeys. The instruction is unexpected: she is to serve as a surrogate mother for a married gay couple in Boston, a Jewish doctor and an African-American dance choreographer. Her husband is baffled, her community is scandalized, and the arrangement grows more complicated when one of the fathers-to-be arrives in town to oversee the pregnancy personally. Directed by Ron Satlof, this culture-clash comedy stars AJ Cook as Miranda, Orlando Jones as Terry, and David Sutcliffe as her husband Parker, with Sarah Carter in support. Beneath the fish-out-of-water setup is a sincere story about how two families with nothing in common come to understand each other, and about the ways a child can redraw the lines people thought were fixed.
