Metamorphosis

Carlos is an introverted young man who has spent years perfecting the art of not being seen, hiding his homosexuality behind silence and good behavior. Exhausted by the effort, he decides the time has come to be brave and tell the truth to the one person he fears most: his father, a tough military man whose approval has always come with conditions. Sandro Arceo Espinosa's Mexican short, featuring Salvador Lenero, Alejandro Acuna Sevilla and Saul Zapata, builds toward that confrontation with patience, letting the weight of what Carlos is about to say settle over the household before a word is spoken. The title suggests both the change Carlos hopes to bring about in his father and the one already underway in himself, a transformation from concealment to honesty that no amount of discipline can reverse.
