Between 2005 and 2008, Here TV turned Richard Stevenson's novels about Donald Strachey, a gay private investigator working the streets of Albany, New York, into four made-for-television mysteries: Third Man Out, Shock to the System, On the Other Hand, Death, and Ice Blues. Bonnie Jean Mah's feature-length documentary goes behind the scenes of the franchise with exclusive interviews from the people who built it. Chad Allen, who played Strachey, and Sebastian Spence, who played his partner Timothy Callahan, talk about creating one of television's first openly gay detective couples, while director Ron Oliver, producer James Shavick, and guest star Margot Kidder reflect on the films' mix of hard-boiled plotting and domestic warmth.
