Guacho
Maikol and Dario are teenage friends with empty pockets and a reality that presses down on them a little harder each day. On one summer morning they decide to escape it, pooling every peso they have to reach the mountains outside the city and claim a single day of peace for themselves. Away from the noise and judgment of home, their friendship reveals itself as something tender and mutual, and the hills become a brief sanctuary where they can simply be together. Directed by Matias Magnano from a script by Lucia Perona, this Argentine short stars Mariano Luduena and Mariano Cornejo and runs about twenty minutes. Its title, slang for a kid from the margins, frames the boys' outing as both an adventure and a small act of defiance, a fleeting taste of freedom that the film observes with warmth and without sentimentality.
