Girls' Voices Now 2025
Each summer, Girls' Voices Now hands cameras to young women from underrepresented communities across Los Angeles and teaches them to make documentaries about the world as they see it. This special presentation gathers three short films from the program's 2025 cohort, produced through the nonprofit Women's Voices Now, whose social-change documentaries premiered at a Los Angeles screening in the fall. Rather than polished industry product, these are first-person films shaped by teenage filmmakers finding their footing, their families, neighborhoods and questions rendered with directness and curiosity. Featuring participants including Sajida Silva, Lexi Silverstein, Ilima-Lei MacFarlane, Cassandra Brooksbank and Arielle Busby, the collection offers a glimpse of a new generation of documentarians learning that their voices carry, and of the city they are growing up in, seen from angles the industry rarely bothers to frame.
