Follow Me
Jasper is nineteen and adrift, wandering the industrial edges of the Port of Ghent while trying to work up the nerve to tell his first love how he feels. Fragments of a phone call hint at a loss he has not processed, and the pull of an attachment he cannot let go of shapes every step he takes. When he finally confronts the object of his feelings, the consequences are not the ones he imagined. Belgian director Anthony Schatteman crafts a moody, atmospheric short about longing that has nowhere to land, with Ezra Fieremans as Jasper and Maarten Ketels as Gerard. Benjamien Lycke's haunting score gives the film much of its emotional charge. Shot in Dutch and running just sixteen minutes, Follow Me is a portrait of first love at its most obsessive and vulnerable. Presented as part of The Gay Agenda 29.
