Dominant Chord

Adam Charles (Clayton James) is a chart-topping country music star with awards, sold-out shows and a secret he has guarded for years: his partner Brian (Sean Poague), whom he has promised again and again to acknowledge publicly. When a video of the two men surfaces online, Adam's manager Jolene (Caitlin Stryker) scrambles to protect the brand, and Adam is forced to decide whether the career he built is worth the love he has been hiding. Canadian writer-director Jeremy Leroux, himself a former country songwriter who walked away from the industry, draws on that experience for a short drama about the price of authenticity in a genre slow to welcome openly gay artists. The film features the original song Wide Awake, written by Brandon Stansell and Jeffrey James, and reached streaming in 2020 after a festival run.
