Eva returns to Sweden to visit her children, hoping to bridge the gap with her son David. The two share a bond that has never quite worked: David is deaf, Eva has never mastered sign language, and beneath the practical barrier lies a deeper wound, a grudge David has carried since childhood. Over the course of the visit, Eva discovers that her children still have the power to surprise her. Directed by Alexander Westergårdh and Valentina Chamorro Westergårdh, this seventeen-minute Swedish drama, originally titled Bortom, stars Monica Albornoz as Eva and Gabriel Nal as David, with Adel Ahmad among the supporting cast. Played out in Swedish and Spanish, it is a quiet, closely observed study of how families talk past one another and what it takes to finally listen.
