Bowes Academy

Daniel Bloom is fifteen, fiercely conservative and already planning his path to the presidency. Desperate to escape public high school, he sets his sights on Bowes Academy, an elite boys' boarding school that promises to shape the next generation of leaders. Once admitted, he discovers the school has an unusual specialty: grooming closeted gay young men for careers in right-wing politics, and its staff seem to know something about Daniel that he has not yet admitted to himself. Greg Emetaz's satirical short, featuring Joshua Gonzales, Shane Zeigler and Preston Maguire, runs about fifteen minutes and skewers the gap between public piety and private truth with a deadpan wit. Playing like a recruitment film gone slightly wrong, it is a comedy of ambition, denial and self-discovery in a world where getting in is only the beginning.
