Boundaries

Jared has not accepted that his relationship is over. Desperate to be noticed by the ex-boyfriend who has moved on, he resorts to increasingly drastic measures, each one pushing past a line he once would never have crossed. Director Rhys Marc Jones keeps this British drama short taut and uncomfortable, with Jared Free in the title role opposite Manny Dunn and Paix Robinson, and lets the audience sit in the space between sympathy and alarm as Jared's need for attention hardens into something more troubling. Running nine minutes, Boundaries examines the fragile line between heartbreak and obsession, and the ways longing can turn a person into someone they no longer recognize. The film screened at the 2018 Palm Springs International ShortFest.
