Autoerotico

On a fog-shrouded night in a suburban park, two young men cross paths with a blonde woman who seems to have stepped out of a dream, or a warning. Portuguese filmmaker João Martinho builds this thirteen-minute short around atmosphere rather than explanation: damp air, sodium light and the charged silence between strangers who meet where no one is supposed to be. Ana Cristina de Oliveira leads a cast that includes Pedro Antunes, Henrique Gil, Marina Albuquerque and Rui Henriques, and the film plays like a nocturne about desire, self-regard and the uncanny figures we project onto the dark. Selected for the 29th Caminhos do Cinema Português festival in Coimbra, Autoerótico is a moody, elliptical piece of queer Portuguese cinema, presented on Here TV as part of the Queer Quickies anthology series.
