Aichaku

In rural Japan, an American English teacher and a half-Japanese construction worker cross paths, and over the course of three days their lives are quietly, permanently changed. Neither man is looking for romance, and the countryside around them offers little room for it, yet an unexpected connection takes hold, one built on small kindnesses, shared silences, and the relief of finally being understood. Directed by Raito Nishizaka and Michael Williams, Aichaku (a Japanese word for the deep attachment we form to people and places) is an intimate, slow-burning love story about belonging, cultural distance, and the risk of opening your heart when you don't know how long you'll be allowed to stay. Christopher McCombs and Christopher Nishizawa lead a tender, naturalistic cast.
