A World of Dreams: Voices from the Out100
Every year Out magazine names the Out100, its roster of the LGBTQ community's most influential people, and this Here TV special takes viewers inside the 2013 class. Director Athena Maroulis sits down with twelve honorees, among them actress Laverne Cox, mixed martial artist Liz Carmouche, writer Choire Sicha, Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, and actress and comedian Lea DeLaria, for conversations about ambition, visibility, and the paths that carried them from private struggle to public life. Part portrait gallery and part oral history, the film captures a moment when queer artists, athletes, and activists were reshaping mainstream culture on their own terms. Produced by Here Media, the special earned an Emmy nomination and remains a snapshot of a generation of movers and shakers speaking in their own voices.
