A Beautiful Cruel Thing
Chad and Myron are a couple whose ordinary life together is upended when Myron receives a diagnosis of terminal cancer. Suddenly every plan, argument and quiet morning is measured against a clock, and the two men must decide how to love each other well inside a shrinking window of time. Written, directed and shot by Lamont Pierre, whose earlier work includes Ghosts of Fort Greene and Black Love Future, the series stars Jovanni Colon as Myron and Rico Milan as Chad and is produced by Pierre's Arthouse International Studios with Here TV. Its first season follows the couple as they work through Myron's illness and treatment; the second season carries the story abroad, with episodes filmed in Scotland, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy and Puerto Rico. Intimate in scale and unhurried in pace, the series treats a Black gay relationship with tenderness, finding beauty in the cruelty of a love that has a deadline.
