$9.99
Based on the short stories of Etgar Keret, $9.99 is a stop-motion animated feature about the residents of a Sydney apartment complex, each searching for meaning in an ordinary life. Dave Peck is an unemployed 28-year-old who still lives at home and has made it his mission to discover the meaning of life, so when he stumbles across a book claiming to answer just that question for the low price of $9.99, he can't resist the bargain. Impressed by the book's wisdom, he sets out to share it with his neighbors: a lonely widower, a young man in love with a supermodel, a boy who longs for a piggy bank, and a repo man with a tender heart. Their stories intertwine to form a wry, bittersweet portrait of hope, loneliness, and the small connections that make a life. Featuring the voices of Geoffrey Rush, Anthony LaPaglia, and Joel Edgerton, and directed by Tatia Rosenthal.
