7+1 Fragments

Seven women, seven worlds, seven colors. Directors Mehrad Sepahnia and Atefeh Kheirabadi, working together under the banner Realillusion, build this German anthology short as a sequence of self-contained portraits, each with its own palette and its own emotional register, and each centered on a woman finding her footing in the world she inhabits. Luisa Mazeh, Matilde Flor, Anna Deborah and Mirjam Morlook lead an ensemble whose stories touch on empowerment, isolation and self-definition, and the film invites viewers to notice how the segments echo and answer one another as the colors shift. Running just under half an hour, 7+1 Fragments earned an Honorable Mention for Medium Length Film at the Cinalfama Lisbon International Film Festival in 2023. It plays in German with English subtitles.
